Teaching Series With Dr. Jim Dixon, Senior Pastor
June 6 - July 18

In the Bible, you get the idea that the Apostle Peter had quite a mouth on him—and often put his foot in it.

Peter was the fisherman-disciple from Galilee who bravely declared he would walk on water, only to sink into the waves when fear got the better of him. He once pulled Jesus aside to rebuke him for talking about dying, which didn’t go too well when Jesus replied, “Get behind me, Satan!” And then Peter denied knowing Jesus—not once, but three times—in the dark hours before the crucifixion.

In his day, Galileans were known being blunt, brash and impetuous. They weren’t smooth talkers. Apparently Peter just couldn’t help himself.

And yet, this same disciple was the one who affirmed Jesus as “the Christ, the Son of the loving God.” And Jesus, in return, said of Peter: “on this rock I will build my church.”

Peter’s boldness made him an outspoken messenger of the Gospel. His last words—of faith and godliness and love—revealed a depth of passion and character that could only come from a lifetime devoted to Jesus.

Join us to examine the Famous Last Words of Peter—words with lasting resonance for all who follow Jesus today.
