Lucas is serving with Denver Area Youth for Christ.

He works with at risk youth in Denver to help develop their leadership potential and equip them to be positive change-agents. One of the ways he does this is by leading a weekly Bible study at a local juvenile correctional facility. By investing in the lives of troubled youth, Lucas longs to see fewer youth who are discharged from Colorado’s Division of Youth Corrections go on to commit more crime, but to instead go on to be leaders in their communities.

Denver Area Youth for Christ exists to give every young person in the Denver metro region the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ and become part of a local church.
 
Denver Area Youth for Christ reaches out to young people everywhere, working together with local churches and other like-minded partners to develop lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their Godly lifestyle, devotion to prayer, the Word of God, and the passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

• In Colorado, over 10,000 young people between the ages of 10 and 21 are incarcerated every year.
• On any given day there are 1627 kids locked up in Colorado.
• Most people, who don’t make a decision to follow Jesus in their teenage years, never do.

Our mentors help at-risk youth, upon leaving a detention facility, to make good choices, learn life skills, complete high school and develop a life-long faith in Jesus Christ.
