Missions and Outreach Director Kathy Burr earned a BA in history from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.  After graduation, Kathy headed to Europe to travel and work.  Kathy worked for a couple of multi-national companies and stayed in Europe for several years.

Prior to coming back to the USA, Kathy traveled extensively in Africa.  “As I traveled, I kept meeting missionaries.  They shared their faith with me but none of them impacted me until I was asked some very poignant questions by a missionary in South Africa.  I grew up going to church but never really had a personal relationship with Christ.  It’s a long story but through God’s direct intervention and some wonderful missionaries in Lesotho, I asked Christ to be Lord of my life.  I therefore have a special heart for missions and for Africa.”

Kathy returned to the USA and started attending Reformed Theological Seminary.  She has an MA in Biblical Studies as well as an MA in Missiology.

Kathy has been on staff at Cherry Hills Community Church for over 6 years serving first in the Singles ministry with Ramona Spilman.  She’s been part of the Missions & Outreach department for almost two years.  She oversees the department staff, budget, day-to-day operations, helps vision-cast with Gene, meets regularly with Outreach Team Leaders and oversees Outreach events.  “I really love serving Cherry Hills in the capacity of Missions and Outreach.  It is definitely where my passion lies.  It’s so fun to see others catch the vision of sharing Christ’s love both here and cross-culturally.”

Kathy has been married to Mark for 10 years.  They have two children, David, 5 and Nikki, 3.   “My husband and kids put a smile on my face and warm my heart.  They teach me so much. God has blessed me beyond my imagination through my family.”

Since Kathy was young she’s had an interest in other cultures as well as geography.  She’s had the privilege of traveling to over 65 countries.  She also enjoys golf, hiking, biking and reading.

Interesting fact:  Kathy has crossed the Atlantic on a 50-foot sailboat and hopes to do it again someday.
