Whiz Kids Tutoring
Would you like to make an eternal impact in the life of a disadvantaged child? Whiz Kids’ volunteers have the unique opportunity to tutor and mentor in the spirit of Christ.
Tutors are paired with an elementary or middle school student at one of our sites where we meet weekly either in the evening or afternoon. Though we do have tutoring locations throughout the Denver Metro area, we particularly need tutors at our sites in Aurora as well as our site at New Life in Christ Church.
Visit the Whiz Kids websites for more information on how to become a tutor; or call 303.504.9449.

It’s never too late to make a difference!

History and Mission
Whiz Kids began in 1990, convening pastors throughout
the Denver Metro area to begin a process of partnering suburban
churches in urban outreach. A year later, this partnership led to a
focus on one-on-one tutoring with elementary-age children. The result
was a program called "Wise Guys," with three locations and 60 kids.
Today, Whiz Kids is a non-profit organization with 44
sites that have the capacity to reach over 800 elementary-age kids.
Plus, we're expanding our tutoring to middle schools with Whiz Kids2,
as well. Our commitment, like our program, is experiencing strength and
growth.
What We Do
Simply, Whiz Kids pairs kids with caring adults who tutor and mentor them in the spirit of Christ.
These adults are volunteers most often recruited
through local churches. Whiz Kids coordinates one-on-one tutoring
sessions for multiple pairs of volunteers and students at host sites
(typically urban churches) throughout the Denver Metro area. We also
provide training and material for our tutors.
Joining Forces for Our Kids
Whiz Kids is instrumental in providing extra literacy
help to many struggling readers in the Denver and Aurora Public School
Districts. The one-on-one relationship formed with an adult encourages
success while increasing self-esteem and self-confidence.
Our kids include elementary and middle-school-age
students. Liaison Teachers refer students based on factors such as
grades and reading levels. Our goal is to not only help build mentoring
relationships with these kids and our volunteers, but to also tutor
them academically with a focus on literacy.
Working with our kids is a yearlong adventure that we'd love for you to experience.
