Friends for Youth

Charting a new course for troubled youth

Friends for Youth exists to assist youth on probation and teen moms by recruiting and training community volunteer mentors who bring hope and encouragement in the Spirit of Christ through committed friendship. There are currently over 4,000 new juveniles on probation in the metro area.

Youth in the inner city and suburbs become involved in drugs and crime at an early age. They often seek friendship in all the wrong places, which leads to the likelihood that they will continue in their negative behavior. But through positive mentoring relationships, these at-risk youth obtain a fresh perspective on their lives and the realization that they can change.

Friends for Youth recruits volunteers from churches around the Denver Metro Area to mentor these youths. We have matched over 500 young people in the metro area with caring adult role models. Friends for Youth is a Cherry Hills Community Church Youthlinks partner and has had a long-standing relationship with Cherry Hills Community Church in supporting its ministry to youth.

What we do

As a mentoring ministry, we have two major hopes with the purpose of changing lives through simple friendship in the Spirit of Christ:

  • To reach the lives of youth in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems and teen moms: serving, guiding, loving and ultimately turning young people’s uphill battles into empowered journeys.
  • To assist followers of Christ in being servants through devoting their friendship to youth and teen moms around the Denver metro area.
