Children’s Outreach Coordinator Candy Temby provides missions education and programs for children in Grace Place from age three to grade 5 in an effort to help build their awareness and involvement in local and worldwide missions.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Western State College in Business Administration, Recreation and Physical Education.

Candy didn’t know Jesus growing up. While in college, she was invited to a local church by a friend where she heard about a personal relationship with Jesus for the first time. “I invited Jesus into my life that day,” she says, “and was baptized that night!”

The reason Candy entered the ministry is simple: “The Lord called me,” she says. “I volunteered to teach at Cherry Hills’ Vacation Bible School in my son Christian’s class when he was three. Since I did not attend VBS as a child, it was a whole new experience for me.”

It was during that week that Candy realized she could use her gifts to serve the Lord in ministry. At that point, she was working as the Special Events Coordinator for the Highlands Ranch Community Association. “For the next two years,” she says, “I served as the lay director of VBS at Cherry Hills.

“My heart longed to work in ministry at Cherry Hills,” Candy says. “The Lord opened the door, and although it did not make financial sense, the Lord has provided in miraculous ways for the last 10 years.”

In addition to Jesus, Candy loves playing sports, being outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, and scrapbooking.
