Membership at Cherry Hills Community Church involves a mutual commitment within this local gathering of Christ-followers. It is a bi-directional pledge between you and the church.
When you identify yourself with Cherry Hills, you are making a commitment to participate in the work of Christ through this local body. You are joining in Cherry Hills’ particular purpose and vision, which contribute to the larger story of God’s people all over the world.
And conversely, when the church accepts you as a member, it is making a commitment to lead you in truth and direct you toward maturity, as you become a fully devoted follower of Christ.
God desires that individuals join together to serve him, each one making a personal contribution of time, talent and treasure. Much like the pieces of a puzzle, all of our efforts fit together to create a complete church, well rounded and effective in ministry. When it comes to contributing time and talent, we seek to help each member find a place of volunteer service that fulfills their unique blend of talents, interests, personality and experience. Volunteer postings can be found online within each ministry or in our publications.
Your personal investment of treasure is important too; all the ministries of Cherry Hills Community Church are fully funded by this congregation. We’ll be glad to provide current budget and financial information upon request. For additional information about giving, please visit our overview page.
We prefer that a young person be at least 12 years of age before joining as a member. As children mature, they become aware of their need of God. When they recognize that they are personally responsible to the call of Christ and his Gospel, they have sound reason to seek a commitment with the church.
Through our children’s ministry, called Grace Place, we have the precious opportunity to create a lasting imprint on young hearts and minds as they learn about Jesus Christ. To further encourage their learning, we offer programs such as Christianity 101. Parents attend this program with their children so that they can participate in the spiritual development process and help determine when formal membership would be an appropriate step.
We consider the congregation to be a family, and therefore we are committed to supporting the development of the families that make up this congregation. Through age 17, children are considered to be members as long as at least one parent maintains a membership. Members’ children receive the same commitment from the church as do adult members in terms of our care for them and our intention to see them grow in their love for God.
At age 18, members’ children may continue as members in their own right by attending the Discovery Class and affirming their desire to join upon completion of the class.
