With the words of the Great Commission, Christ set in motion the most dynamic global enterprise of all time—that of taking the Gospel to the nations. In business, the idea of going global takes on a whole new meaning when strategic ventures are backed by Kingdom purposes and delivered with the message of HOPE.

At Work in the World

Through our network of Global Business Partners, Cherry Hills Community Church encourages believers to leverage their professional skills and experience in businesses that build God’s Kingdom on an international scale. Your expertise in strategy, marketing, finance, analysis or operations can help grow for-profit, sustainable businesses around the world that help spread the good news of Christ.

Perhaps the best way to see the potential of Global Business Partners is through the stories of partners themselves.

Dan Ryan: How on Earth I Got to Malawi

I have been involved in the community and economic development business for 25 years. God has provided me a passion to bring affordable new housing, job creation, commercial services and educational facilities to all people around the world.

In 2006, through this ministry, I attended a conference in Dallas, Texas and met a Christian business person from Lilongwe, Malawi. This gentleman is highly respected and has a passion to bring sustainable jobs, new housing, and economic development to his country. We immediately hit it off—I knew right away Jesus brought us together

Late in 2006 I spent two weeks in Malawi meeting with high-ranking government officials and local business people. Fast forward to 2008: we were actively working on a for-profit venture to bring a Conference & Hotel facility along with new affordable housing and commercial services to the Capital City of Lilongwe, Malawi. This is what we call a “Kingdom-Business” or “Business as Mission” venture.

Please join us. We are actively seeking business people from all disciplines to join in our ministry.

Matt: How My Business Became My Mission

In the late 1980s as a college student at CU Boulder, I wanted nothing more than to become a successful businessman and support people in full-time ministry. However, that all changed during a short-term trip to a country with few followers of Christ. God opened my eyes. Upon my return home, I knew I would someday enter into full-time ministry. But little did I know that my mission would be a business. It wasn’t one or the other—it was both.

Previously, when I was in my 20s, I had worked at a Denver-based company and was promoted to CFO. I was positioned for a successful career stateside, but my heart was set on overseas missions. My business background prepared me for the ministry God had in store.

Many countries today do not welcome Christian workers but will gladly grant a long-term visa to business people, even if they are Christians. My family and I have been called to just such a place in South Asia. We desire to see a church planting movement spread among a specific people group, and we have found that business provides a very effective means of outreach.

Over the years I have established an IT company that primarily employs young local people from poor backgrounds who have never heard the Gospel. On the job, these young people not only learn professional job skills, but also hear and see the Gospel lived out in the workplace by the believers who are in management.

Ministry is happening in the business place on a daily basis. The management team holds Bible studies and teaches work ethics and leadership development with the Bible as their guide. Those teammates who have come to serve the people in this country are building relationships in the business context every day. It's working. Business and mission are woven together.

While I and my business associates could have chosen lucrative careers at home, we have accepted the daily challenges in this South Asian country for the sake of the Gospel reaching into areas where it has not yet penetrated. Less than .01% of the people here follow Christ. The passion of our business team is to see people come to faith in Christ through our circle of influence in business and in the community. It's a long-term commitment with eternal results.

For security reasons, the place and company name have been omitted from Matt's story.
