Are you looking for the Summer Mission Adventure of a lifetime? Cherry Hills is seeking strong Christian high school athletes and coaches with outstanding leadership skills to participate in a basketball mission trip in the Czech Republic.

The camp will include leading a clinic for elementary school age boys as well as playing in exhibition games with Czech teens. The Cherry Hills team will join Coach Martin Bele and a team from the Czech Republic for a week of basketball fun and challenges - and an opportunity to share the life changing hope of Jesus Christ with other young people from Eastern Europe.

Players and coaches will be leading a 4-day Christian basketball camp for Czech boys age 8 - 15.  In the evening, the team will have the opportunity to play in nightly exhibition games with Czech high school and National players.

Players and coaches must be familiar with the rules and skills of basketball and have some experience playing on basketball teams. The goal of the camp is to teach, coach and form lasting relationships with non-Christian Czech kids and teens.

Ministry Opportunities

  • Form interpersonal relationships with students from the Czech Republic.
  • Coach elementary - young high school boys basketball.
  • Play exhibition basketball with Czech High School and National players.
  • Experience first hand the fulfilling of the Great Commission to the Czech people and help our church partners in Blatna and Pisek to reach out to their communities through this camp and the exhibition games.

Believe it or not, it is easier to to talk about spiritual matters in the Czech Republic than it is here in Colorado. Even though the Czech Republic is an atheistic country, the people are hungry to learn about Jesus Christ. They also want to know how to speak English because this opens better employment opportunities. Come along and help us spread the Good News and have fun doing it.

What is the Czech Initiative?

In the name of Christ, we desire to join with Him as He builds His church in the Czech Republic. Through a growing partnership with Elim Evangelical Church of Pisek, Czech Republic, and other ministries, we hope to continually expand our understanding of ministry to the Czech people, to serve and support that ministry in ways that exalt Christ, and to mobilize a growing number of Cherry Hills members in service to Elim and the body of Christ in the southwest Czech Republic.

Who are the team leaders?

Jim and Candy Temby are long time members of Cherry Hills, who both have active sports backgrounds. Candy works in Grace Place and they have both been involved as coaches with Super Kids Sports Kamp. Jim and Candy organized the Mississippi Sports Camp for three years and have several years of coaching experience. Both of their sons will be going with the team.
