Cherry Hills Community Church has formed a strategic partnership with a small Christian church in a small Czech community which has become a beacon of Christ’s light to a lost and searching people.
Appealing mainly to the country’s young people, Elim Evangelical Church in the town of Pisek, is reaching out to non-Christians through English-teaching camps, sports camps, family counseling and outdoor activities - all with a message solidly grounded in Biblical teaching and the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Because knowing English means better paying jobs, the Czech people truly value English-speaking Americans to help them hone their language skills.
For the Elim church, the camp is an outreach to the people of Pisek who don’t know Christ. It provides many opportunities for the pastor and the church to develop relationships within the city, which may lead to eternal salvation.
“I only speak English.” This is actually an advantage in many countries where millions of people want to learn English and are eager to practice it. -- Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life.
Ministry Opportunities

- Help conduct an English Camp teaching classes based on Biblical curriculum
- Form interpersonal relationships with Czech families, by sharing meals, worship, classes, crafts, games, sports and hikes
- Visit and worship with our partner church, Elim, located in Pizek
- Experience first hand the fulfilling of the Great Commission to the Czech people
Believe it or not, it is easier to to talk about spiritual matters in the Czech Republic than it is here in Colorado. Even though the Czech Republic is an atheistic country, the people are hungry to learn about Jesus Christ. They also want to know how to speak English because this opens better employment opportunities. Come along and help us spread the Good News and have fun doing it.
Who should go?
YOU - You do not have to be an English teacher to teach. The English camp curriculum is simply conversational English combined with some fun activities. You do not need to speak Czech. Translators will be at the camp to assist you.
What is the Czech Initiative?
In the name of Christ, we desire to join with Him as He builds His church in the Czech Republic. Through a growing partnership with Elim Evangelical Church of Pisek, Czech Republic, and other ministries, we hope to continually expand our understanding of ministry to the Czech people, to serve and support that ministry in ways that exalt Christ, and to mobilize a growing number of Cherry Hills members in service to Elim and the body of Christ in the southwest Czech Republic.
