"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chron. 7:14
Sanctity of Human Life
Our Perspective
At Cherry Hills Community Church, we view human life as a precious gift from God. Each person, male and female, is created in His image, and we believe that the sanctity of life is unequivocally affirmed in Scripture. The Psalmist wrote “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well… Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:13-16)
We exhort the body of Christ to honor and uphold the dignity that can be found in each individual, including the unborn, the infirm, and the aged. This can be accomplished through many means, including the compassionate care of women in crisis pregnancies, adoption awareness, working towards the advancement of pro-life legislation, education on fetal development, and supporting ethical medical research using adult stem cells, which has shown great promise in fighting certain diseases.
Further, we must be the hands and feet of Jesus and continually care for the sick, the elderly and the weak, as the book of James describes pure religion acceptable to God as this – “(looking) after orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27)
There is hope for women and men who are struggling with past abortions in that God promises mercy and forgiveness to all of us, if we simply seek it. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Words from History

“Sweeter even than to have had the joy of caring for children of my own has it been to me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so their unborn little ones could not be willed away from them.” – Susan B. “Unless it can be proven that the unborn child is not a living entity, then its right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness must be protected.” – President Ronald Reagan, 1983
