On what dates does the Club begin and end?
The 2011-2012 Awana year begins Wednesday, September 7, 2011 and ends with an awards night on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. We will not have club on November 23, December 21 and December 28 and March 28 due to holidays and school breaks. |
What happens during a typical Awana night?
The Clubbers participate in Small Group Bible Study, Games, and a Large Group activity each week. Small Group books are provided and Awana shares/bucks are given for certain accomplishments. The Clubbers can spend their Awana shares/bucks at Store Nights throughout the year. Large Group activities will include: Worship, Mission Nights, Special Guests, and Movies. |
Are there uniforms required?
Yes, Cubbies and Sparks wear vests which can be purchased for $13 at registration. T&T Ultimate Adventure students wear green t-shirts which are worn each night of club and can be purchased for $16. Uniforms are not required for T&T Ultimate Challenge, Trek, or Journey. |
Are there any additional supplies that need to be purchased?
No additional supplies are required to participate in the program.
Awana bags and backpacks can be purchased for $5 at the front desk
during any club night, but any bag or backpack can be used. As children
progress through their materials, additional books can also be
purchased to continue through extra credit or the next book level. All
these items are optional. |
Are there any special events this year?
Yes. Our Annual Awana Grand Prix for Preschool through grade 6 will be held on Saturday, November 12. This year there is the option of buying a car kit at registration as the cars will all be created at home for racing that day or at the front desk prior to the event.
The club may also decide to participate in the Awana Bible Quizzing and Awana Games events in the January/February time frame. This will depend on interest from the Clubbers and support from volunteers.
T&T Ultimate Challenge Clubbers will have the option of joining in the Preteen Group’s Off-Campus Events for which there is usually a small per child charge for the trip. These Clubbers can participate throughout the night with the T&T Ultimate Adventure group if they choose not to participate in the Preteen Off-Campus Event.
At the end of the year, we will have special Awards Ceremony which will involve the entire club from Cubbies through Journey and their families. This will be held on Wednesday April 18, 2012. |
Is there any preparation required at home before coming to Club each week?
Although not required, preparation at home is highly recommended. The Clubbers have a goal of completing one book per year. The level of difficulty with this task increases as the Clubbers get older and build on previous memorization. The goal is obtainable but requires time during the Awana night and may help to have at home preparation. Each child will progress with encouragement from their Awana leaders and home support. |
What if my child can’t be there every week?
That is okay. For the Sparks group we ask for an e-mail
or call if your child will not be there for the night. It is not
required for all other clubs.
Your child will progress further through the material and memory verses the more often he/she can attend. |
Do I have to be a volunteer for my child to participate in Awana?
Volunteering weekly in the program is only required for Cubbies,
however, it takes many volunteers to make Awana successful. We offer a
discount to adults who volunteer in the program. Volunteers can choose
either weekly or bi-weekly schedules and can share with a spouse, friend
or other volunteer through the program. We offer a $30/child discount
for full time volunteers and a $15/child discount for bi-weekly
volunteers.
There are many different places to volunteer, particularly
leading small groups of kids. |
