Bible Blast is for students grades K-5.
Bible Blast meets on Sunday mornings from September through May. You may choose either first hour (9:00 a.m.) or second hour (10:45 a.m.) Bible Blast to attend. Children may only attend the hour for which they are registered.
Unfortunately, no. Due to the nature of Bible Blast and the detailed records we keep on quizzing and memory for each child, it creates a huge bookkeeping challenge to allow children to switch back and forth. We encourage you to take your child to their regular Sunday school class or the worship service with you if you cannot attend the hour for which you are registered.
This will depend upon the family as well as the age of the children. However, less than 15 minutes a day is average if The Picture Bible is read 5 days a week and the corresponding quizzing questions are covered at that time. If a child is participating in the memory program, this will take longer and will depend upon how quickly the child memorizes.
That is ok. Obviously, you and your child will get much more out of the program the more often he/she can attend.
Of course they are capable of doing it themselves, but Bible Blast is based upon the parents being the “head coach”. By reading the Bible to your child, regardless of their age, you open the door to conversations about God’s word and its’ application in our lives. This is a great opportunity to share your faith with your child and allow them to enjoy the time with you.
No, you don’t have to be a coach for your child to participate. However, it takes many coaches to make Bible Blast a success. We will ask each parent to volunteer at least once a semester to help out.
The memory program is completely optional and up to the families to decide if and when the child wants to participate. It is certainly recommended as it is an excellent way for children to “hide God’s word in their heart”.
Parents are crucial to the success of Bible Blast. A parent should read The Picture Bible to their child each week as well as review the quizzing questions and answers. In addition, most parents support the program by sending back offering to cover the cost of the prizes their children earn. Lastly, Bible Blast can’t function without parent volunteers. This program can’t function if the parents don’t support it with their involvement, time and finances.
The Bible Blast Manual is a $25 manual for which CHCC generously pays half of – meaning it costs $12.50 per family. The Picture Bible costs $15 and both should be paid for online at the time of registration. You only need one set of materials per family, even if you have multiple siblings involved in Bible Blast. You will pick up your materials at Parent Orientation in August.
• If my child participated in Bible Blast last year, do I need to register him/her again this year?
Yes! Please register your child for this year’s Bible Blast. No child is “carried over” from the previous year.
• Will we need a new Bible Blast Manual for next year?
No, not unless your manual has somehow been ruined, or if for some reason you want a second copy. Check the appropriate spot when you register on-line showing you need a replacement manual. Replacement manuals are full price ($25).
• Next year, will my child need to re-recite the memory work they did this year?
No. All memory records are kept and your child will be able to continue right where he/she stopped.
